Michael is deeply passionate about architecture and cherishes time with his young family.
With a collaborative approach, he works closely with clients, consultants, councils, and contractors to achieve the best possible outcomes for every project.
Having spent over a decade under the mentorship of some of New Zealand’s most renowned architects, Michael founded MAV Studio with the clear intention of making good architecture accessible to more New Zealander's - and being personally involved in every aspect of the work.
A proud Hawke’s Bay native of Samoan and Māori descent, Michael graduated from Victoria University’s School of Architecture and lives in Wellington. His dedication to his craft is reflected in the care and attention every project commands - and his past role as a Trustee of the Futuna Chapel Trust, a tribute to one of his greatest inspirations, architect John Scott.
Michael’s extensive experience spans a wide range of projects, including residential, multi-unit residential, commercial, cultural, healthcare, education, and master planning. He has worked with private, commercial and government clients. His expertise, from initial concept to project completion, ensures his clients receive exceptional care and transparency throughout the entire process.
